Camden Duzenack
Assistant Coach
Camden Duzenack joined Head Coach Jake Angier on the baseball staff as an Assistant Coach, on Aug. 1, 2024. He will be coaching the infield and assisting with all other aspects of the program. Duzenack spent six seasons in the Arizona Diamondbacks farm system after being drafted in the ninth round of the 2017 MLB draft.
Duzenack recorded 454 hits in 1809 at-bats during his six seasons in the minors. He had a career batting average of .251, an OBP of .318 and an OPS of .735. Duzenack racked up several awards such as Northwest League All-Star in 2017, NWL Post-Season All-Star in 2017, CAL Mid-Season All-Star in 2019 and PCL Player of the Week on Sept. 21, 2022. On Sept. 27, 2022, Duzenack fielded all nine positions in one game.
Duzenack spent four seasons with Conference USA foe Dallas Baptist, recording a career batting average of .291. While on the Patriots Duzenack, had an OPS of .829. In the infield, Duzenack had 337 putouts with a career fielding percentage of .954.
In his freshman year, 2014, Duzenack was named Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American, Two-time Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week, Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Most Outstanding Player and Missouri Valley Conference All-Tournament Team.
In his sophomore year, 2015, Duzenack garnered First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference and Missouri Valley Conference First Team Scholar-Athlete. As a junior, Duzenack was named to the Second Team All-Missouri Valley Conference, Missouri Valley Conference All-Tournament Team and Missouri Valley Conference First Team Scholar-Athlete.
In his senior year, Duzenack was named MVC Defensive Player of the Year, tabbed to the Second Team All-MVC and MVC All-Defensive Team. He also garnered MVC Player of the Week Honors twice. On May 8, 2017 Duzenack was named Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week for the third time in his career.
David Bellamy
Assistant Coach
David Bellamy comes to NM State from Washington State University where he coached the catchers and assisted with the hitters and baserunning. Bellamy worked the 2021 campaign as WSU’s Director of Player Development and spent the 2020 season as a graduate assistant working alongside head coach Brian Green while working with the hitters and outfielders.
Bellamy helped the 2023 Cougars post a 29-23 record, their fourth-straight winning season and the most wins since 2015, including series wins at No. 15 Oregon State, over No. 12 UCLA, Arizona, at California, WCC champion Santa Clara and claimed the season series over Gonzaga, 2-1. Following the series win at No. 15 OSU to open conference play, WSU appeared at No. 20 in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top-25, the Cougars first national ranking since 2010. WSU put up impressive numbers offensively in all three phases, hitting the tenth-most home runs in program history (54), recording the most stolen bases since 2015 (70), was hit by the pitch the third-most in program history (92), fielded at a .974 clip for the fourth-best fielding percentage in program history and the pitching staff set the strikeout record for the second straight season (518).
Prior to joining Washington State, Bellamy worked as a graduate assistant at NM State where he helped the Aggies to a Western Athletic Conference Regular Season Championship. In 2019, the NM State offense finished the regular season with a school-record .356 batting average and led the country in batting average, runs, runs per game, hits, triples, on base percentage, slugging percentage and hit by pitch. Individually, shortstop Joey Ortiz was named the WAC Player of the Year, a semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award (best shortstop in the country) and Dick Howser Award (best player in the country), along with being selected in the fourth-round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Baltimore Orioles. Second baseman Nick Gonzales was also a semifinalist for the Howser Award and the Golden Spikes Award (national player of the year) and was selected seventh-overall in the 2020 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Dillon Leveille
Assistant Coach/Director of Player Development
Dillon comes to Las Cruces after spending four seasons as an assistant coach at East Texas Baptist. Leveille will oversee the outfielders at NM State and assist in player development.
Leveille brings NCAA Division II and junior college playing experience to ETBU after his careers at Cameron and Labette Junior College. He played two seasons at Cameron and posted a 3.86 ERA in his senior year which was the third best on the team. In both seasons (2013, 2014) he was on the Lone Star Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll. He started his career at Labette Junior College where he was given the NJCAA Superior Academic Achievement award for his work in the classroom.
He is from Geronimo, Okla., where he pitched and played center field at Geronimo HS. He graduated from Cameron University in May 2015 with his bachelors degree and earned his master's degree from ETBU in August 2021.
